Three works on selling and sales leadership, written across a decade in the field.
Complete Field Guide to Successful Sales Leadership — Your Path to Understanding How to Win at Results-Based Leadership
By Chuck Thokey · Foreword by Brian Gottlieb
Blooming Twig Books · June 18, 2026 · 224 pages
Hardcover 978-1-61343-189-4 · Paperback 978-1-61343-190-0 · Kindle 978-1-61343-191-7
Two years in the making. This is the book I wanted when I first moved from selling to leading and discovered they are not the same skill. It covers what results-based leadership actually looks like day to day — running the numbers without running people into the ground, holding a team accountable without bleeding talent, and building a sales organization that does not depend on the owner being the best closer in the room. Brian Gottlieb, author of Beyond the Hammer, wrote the foreword.
Selling Education and Educating Sales — Tying It All Together
By Brian L. Gross and Chuck Thokey
Archway Publishing · August 26, 2016 · 122 pages
ISBN 978-1-4808-3514-6
My first book, co-written with Brian L. Gross. The argument is that selling and teaching are the same act performed with different intent — and that the reps who last are the ones who educate rather than persuade. Ten years on, I still stand behind the core of it.
Professional’s Sales Manual for Home Improvement
By Chuck Thokey
Registered with the U.S. Copyright Office · Reg. TX0008607118 · First published May 10, 2018
A working field manual for in-home selling, written for reps who need something they can actually carry into an appointment. Not a trade edition — it was built as a training document and registered as one.
A note on the byline
Some retail listings show Complete Field Guide with two names because their page titles list every contributor without saying what each one did. To be exact: I wrote the book, and Brian Gottlieb wrote the foreword. The 2016 book is the genuinely co-authored one, and that co-author is Brian L. Gross — a different Brian, which has caused more confusion than it should have.
